WHAT'S NEW AT UNDERWATER WORLD
Blue line snapper:
UnderWater World became even fishier this month when we introduced 500 Blue line snapper to the oceanarium tunnel! With racing stripes of blue, the Blue line snapper will grow to 40cm in length and love schooling in groups. They like to eat shrimps, crabs and planktonic crustaceans, as well as plant and algae material.
Tawny nurse sharks
: Listed as vulnerable to extinction, UnderWater World is lucky enough to have two Tawny nurse sharks living at the aquarium. We have a male and a female Tawny nurse shark which will hopefully grow into a breeding pair and assist in replenishing the aquarium and wild population stocks into the future. You can check out this amazing pair in the 10m tank next to the Fishy Fings Retail Store as you exit UnderWater World.
Cuttlefish:
We recently introduced five cute Cuttlefish to Zone 8 - Crawly Creatures. These crafty little molluscs can rapidly change the colour of their body. They do this to communicate with other Cuttlefish and to blend in with their surroundings. When threatened, the Cuttlefish will also shoot a cloud of ink to escape predators! Studies have indicated that the Cuttlefish is one of the most intelligent invertebrates in the ocean. These smart little creatures also have one of the largest brain-to-body size ratios of all invertebrates.
